Although today was an early start, Jack decided to do marathon training at 530 AM! This morning was sonogram #2 and Jack is doing well! His kidneys are fine and are within normal size and normal fluid levels. He decided to again be stubborn and did not want to move for the sonogram lady. We got to see him sucking his thumb and he was looking straight out at us so we did not get a good profile picture this time but it was still very cute. He now weighs 1 pound 12 ounces, a "good weight" as per the nurse. The due date has not been changed so we are still on track for April 2nd, woohoo! Below is a week 26 picture, next to the Christmas tree. It may not look like it but there is a definite Jack there and I have on maternity jeans too. My other jeans still fit but the button is somewhat of a pain when I bend over so I do not wear them often now. Overall everything is going well, I feel great and John is too thrilled to feel Jack when he is up at normal hours, trying to wake John up at 530 to feel kicks doesn't work well. haha. Check back soon for an update!

Move It On Over
Well, some of you may have heard this story from me by now, but I need to share it for posterity. I felt the baby move for the first time yesterday on Monday, December 7th.
Chelsea has been feeling it for a while, but the little grapefruit baby was too teeny for anybody in the outside world to enjoy. But NOW...
I woke up with my alarm at 7:02 a.m. and had barely gotten out of bed before Chelsea said, "Rabbit, come here. Feel." I put my hand down and boomp, boomp, there it was! It felt like somebody jump-kicking a wall of jello. I immediately felt an incredible high. It stuck with me for five hours.
It didn't hurt that after this little experience, I got in the car and my CD player perfectly timed "Happiness Is A Warm Gun" to end right as I pulled into the parking lot at school.
At the moment, life does not get much better.

1st Pictures!
Here are the 1st baby pictures! There are a few creepy head pictures and a great profile picture! He or she weights 13 oz and has a 1 inch foot. The head and belly measure at 21 weeks so that means the due date has been moved up 10 days. The new date is April 2nd 2010. As far as health, it is "all good".

3rd Doctor's Appointment
Today was my third doctor's appointment at 17 1/2 weeks. I heard the little babies heart beat again, it was nice and strong. I have gained 1.5 pounds and am told that that is okay for now. Dr. Tran was not surprised my jean still fit but she was surprised I still had my belt on. Haha, she said she doesn't expect to see that at the next appointment (December 3rd). I was given the referral for our first sonogram and can schedule it within the next few weeks. Exciting!

16 going on 17
So here we are going on 17 weeks and I do not feel much different. I was beginning to think that I was malfunctioning when I heard too many comments such as... "You are not even showing yet". I began to obsess over this and asked around, I got even more worried when I was told by 3 different people that they outgrew their pants around 14-15 weeks. AHH! I can still wear my favorite jeans and I can actually wear those black pants again for some strange reason. So after worrying, calling my mom and being assured there was nothing wrong with me I continued to search the Internet for other 17 week pictures of pregnant women. The visual proof that I was normal was evident when I found other women worrying about the same thing but their pictures looked very much like me, no protruding bump. I will most likely look back at this post and wish I wasn't showing, like my mom said but for now at least my temporary worry is over.

Sizing!
I have officially found the first pair of pants that do not fit very well! Haha and I am sad because they were my favorite dress pants to wear while teaching. They actually were the right length to wear with shoes that were not 4 inches tall. Darn Darn Darn! I guess this is the start of a very long list of clothing that will no longer fit very shortly. I also predict that I am going to have a lot of closet space soon! This may be the first time I can actually start saying I have nothing to wear and it will be true. Ohwell here's to the batbaby!

Houston, We Have A Heartbeat
Well, all remaining doubt is banished. Chelsea and I went to the doctor's today. The nice nurse said she would probably have to chase the "little peanut," but almost as soon as she put the wand to Chelsea's abdomen there it was--a surreal, spacelike swish-swishing sound. Our baby's heartbeat, at 130 beats per minute. Wowza.

Hello World
Hello, I just want to start by saying that I am terrible at keeping diaries or journals no matter how well intended I am. Therefore I am pretty sure John will be the major journalist of this site. I will try to do my best when major events happen. Concerning this penguin, (not bat) we are having... not much besides becoming very good friends with my penguin themed bathroom has happened. I have actually lost weight and find it hillarious that I have eaten at least 3 whole boxes of saltine crackers. Candles and any fake fruity smell are the devil and the garbage can cannot get far enough away on most days. I have had one visit to a very nice nurse and the first official dr. visit is on the 8th. Upon that visit we should be able to hear a heart beat if the penguin cooperates. Well see!
